BROWNFIELDS REDEVELOPMENT
A Brownfield is a property where the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse is complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. It is estimated there are more than 450,000 brownfields sites in the United States. Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties increases local tax bases, facilitates job growth, utilizes existing infrastructure, takes development pressures off undeveloped and open land, and both improves and protects the environment. Through our completion of over 120 Brownfields Assessment and Cleanup projects, Credere’s redevelopment-based approach successfully helps owners, developers, municipalities, and planning commissions transition projects beyond the assessment phase of Brownfields and into actual cleanup and redevelopment. This includes obtaining cleanup grant/loan funding and marketing assistance in addition to environment consulting services. Credere’s implements an end goal-based approach to tackling tricky municipal, commercial, and industrial properties so that in the end the revival of these properties will help stimulate local growth, increase tax revenue, and kindle public and private investment. Brownfields projects that Credere is/was involved in are leveraging over $200 million in private investment and over $75 million in other public funding.
